Chain Saw Course - Tree Climbing & Aerial Rescue


Course Objectives

At the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Climb a tree – branch walk
  • Rescue a casualty from a tree
  • Achieve a work position in a tree and use a hand saw to sever lightweight branches


Who is the course for?

Tree surgeons, highways, landscape gardeners, conservation – personnel re-training. The course provides the knowledge and skill requirements for candidates to be assessed for NPTC Unit 38 Certificate of Competence 'Climb Trees and Perform Aerial rescue'.

Course Content

  • Inspection of equipment – LOLER’98
  • Climb tree with rope and harness
  • Conduct an aerial rescue
  • Use a hand saw in the tree

Facilities/Equipment Required

  • Own climbing equipment
  • Hand saw for working in tree
  • First aid kit
  • Personal protective equipment
