Ride on Mowers


Course Objectives

  • Identify the risks associated with the use of ride-on mowers
  • Select appropriate personal protective equipment
  • Identify and understand the function of all instruments & controls
  • Carry out daily checks as indicated in the operators manual
  • Carry out pre-start checks
  • Identify and report any faults
  • Adjust the cutting mechanism to achieve the required standard
  • Operate the machine in a safe and competent manner
  • Perform after-use maintenance
  • Understand requirements for travelling on the public road
  • Be able to load and transport the machine (if appropriate)

Who is the course for?

Anyone required to use a ride-on mower as part of their work. This would include novice and experienced operators who require their skills updating, with certification.


Duration/Format

Suggest 1 day (none drivers or complete novices may need 2 days)
(Cylinder or Rotary & flail, Reciprocating Knife or other variants)


Instructor/Trainee Ratio

Max: 1:4 with at least 2 machines (one of each type of required cutting mechanism)

Facilities/Equipment Required

Appropriate PPE including Safety Boots and 2 passport photos.


Venue

Ideally, this course should be run at a dealer’s premises, or on-site if there are workshop facilities available. Suitable ground nearby for operating should also be available. If possible should include a suitable wash-off area.

  • 7 days notice - full fee refunded
  • 3-7 days notice - half fee refunded *
  • 1-3 days notice - quarter fee refunded *
