Overhead Electric Travelling Crane
Course Objectives
- Identify the basic construction and components, and the purpose and use of all controls and gauges
- Identify and comply with manufacturers instructions in accordance with the operator’s handbook, other information sources i.e. duties charts, and applicable legislation
- Establish SWL’s
- Identify lifting accessories and their uses
- Explain all relevant documentation
- Explain all displayed information on the machine
- Explain the use of attchements
- Explain the hand signals and their uses
- Carry out pre-start and running checks
- Carry out pre-use checks of the lifting accessories/attachments and identify the rejection criteria
- Operate controls and manoeuvre the crane in limited access
- Position the crane up to maximum working height
- Keep within safe working parameters
- Place the machine in an out-of-service condition
- Explain the loading and unloading procedures
Who is the course for?
Anyone who uses or will be using an EOTC in the land-based industries or construction industry.
Duration/Format
Novice operators – all types - 2 days
Experienced operators – all types - 1 day
Instructor/machine/trainee ratio
1 instructor : 1 machine : 4 trainees
Equipment for land-based course and test
- Operator instruction book for all machinery and attachments
- Overalls and wet weather clothing
- High visibility jacket
- PPE (minimum hard hat, safety harness and lanyard but may require fall arrest device with lanyard and carabiners etc)
- Notebook and pencil
Venue
- Light and heating if necessary
- Seating and tables for trainees
- Suitable area for training (see above)

ITSSAR Certification (2 people max) - £35 each+VAT

If your place on the course is cancelled, the following will apply:-
- 7 days notice - full fee refunded
- 3-7 days notice - half fee refunded *
- 1-3 days notice - quarter fee refunded *
